I haven’t yet been to stay in a tree-house, and I’m not sure what I find so attractive about the idea, but since a friend told me about the time she and her family stayed in one in India, the idea of doing it myself has taken root (ha ha).

There’s one in particular that has caught my eye while roaming on the net. In Normandy in Northern France, there’s a tree-house that has been built in an enormous chestnut tree overlooking the Le Perche Natural Park.

This is by no means roughing it in the middle of nowhere (the house is heated and has a shower room), but is a comfortable and relaxing retreat. It can take up to five people, which in my book makes it sound like a great place to either take the kids, or go off for a reunion of old friends.

If cider and crêpes in the countryside sounds quite tame, then keep looking online. In Costa Rica you can rent a tree-house which is, in part, the fuselage of a Boeing 727. In a tree.

Apparently, the popularity of tree-house and other more ‘eco-friendly’ holidays is on the increase. Hopefully I’ll be able to see for myself in the not-too-distant future…

The summer school holidays will soon be upon us, with those who have children looking for ways to occupy their little darlings. Sure, you could leave them in front of the TV or playing video games but when the weather is turning out so nice, it would be almost criminal to do so!

What have you got planned for your kids this summer? Obviously not everyone can manage to get enough time off over the summer holidays to be able to do much, but for the odd day out there is plenty to do around the country.

Personally, I’m thinking of a trip to Alton Towers to experience their new ride with maybe a few good old fashioned countryside jaunts in the pipeline too. Give us your suggestions!

Another Bank holiday is almost upon us and this usually means having a barbecue if it doesn’t rain, going for a day out at the beach or relaxing with friends in the beer garden.

If you fancy something different to do this bank holiday, then why not visit an art gallery? There are various exhibitions on, they can be educational as well as inspirational and the exhibitions change from time to time so there’s something for everyone.

If the weather’s right, a day at the farm can be great fun for the family. Pick some fresh vegetables and fruit to take home while you’re there. An active alternative could entail a nice, long walk at some of England’s picturesque countrysides.

Is it best to holiday in the UK or abroad? Going to sunny climates may seem idyllic but is the stress of getting to the airport and all that waiting around really worth the hassle. If you go on holiday in the UK you generally get there in a few hours with no long queuing and get all the luxuries you would expect, but abroad you make do with lower standards of living. It would be a very tough choice but with millions of people doing both every year it would seem that many of us are still very divided.

We all work so hard and life seems to flash us by. So every now and again I think we need to down tools – forget all the jobs that need to be done at the weekend and escape for a day or 2 – and it doesn’t have to be that expensive either.

As mush I I love shopping and fine wineing and dining theres nothing I like more than a trip, and I’ve been known to camp too, to the LAke District.

Pure ecapeism, completely away from the normal rat race of life. The country side is THE place to be. The smaller places which are none touristy are nicest as you feel a million miles away from anybody and a few days here makes you feel like you’ve been away for a month. As long as you enjoy walking and site seeing though as theres not much else to do. And so you don’t feel out of place – walking shoes and a ski pole is a must!

The other Sunday afternoon I was at a BBQ and we all started to talk about where we were going on holiday this year. It didn’t take us long, or perhaps it was the alcohol flowing, for us all to reminisce about holidays we went on when we were younger. The amount of excitement this conversation generated was unbelievable, but most interesting this was not one of us talked about holidays abroad. Admittedly we are all on the other side of Thirty where holidays that involving flying were not common place when we were under 10 however the memories we all talked about were filled with so much Joy.
When you’re little and the idea of going of holiday, packing a suitcase and not sleeping in your own bed fills you will so much adventure that the destination is irreverent.
For me I have so many happy memories of holidays at Whitby; building sandcastles and joining the beach club with my sister, brothers and mum and dad, to me it was the equivalent of a world cruise. Staying in an apartment by the sea front and going down to the amusements in the evening. Having chips in a cone and going rock pool hunting was so different to normal school and home life, I just loved it

I think sometimes people expect that holidays must involve money, hot and exotic places when really all kids want is to have fun!!!

One of the main attractions is the castle situated on the top of the hill overlooking the city. It’s a great place to get a view of the city and surrounding areas. In the castle there is plenty to see and do and you can grab a bite to eat.

Edinburgh is also know for the comedy festival which is two weeks of events, shows and a great place to see live comedy at it’s rawest.

I’m lucky enough to have been born in Blackpool. I used to work the summer season on the North Peir in the theatre and during the day in the sun louge handing out deck chairs. Another season I worked in Blackpool Zoo driving the mimiture train round the park.

It was a great job indeed and kept me in university paying for my fee’s. For a family Blackpool is a great place to come. There are enought attractions to keep a family of four ocupied for 10 days. Hotels are cheap too which means you don’t have to break the bank to have a great time.
