Cheaper holidays as Sterling strengthens
As the sterling slowly but surely gains strength over the Euro, we can finally look forward to cheaper holidays this summer. The price of hotels, eating out and other holiday costs have plunged quite significantly, in some places at least. For example, the prices in Portugal have dropped to almost 40% compared to last year, while research shows that Spain is 39% cheaper than the previous year.
For lovers of all things Greek, Cyprus has shown a drop of 19% while Greece is 8% lower than last year, so good news all round. One place to avoid if you’re counting the pennies is Italy, which is the only European country that has actually increased price-wise, by 3%.
