Not content with spending more in the summer than most football clubs will spend in 5 years worth of transfers, namely £225 million, they are planning the first theme park near their training ground base at Valdebebas, north of Madrid. The theme park is predicted to cost £135 million.

Club president Florentino Perez recognises that Spain also has 146 theme parks and that Madrid is a capital of football, but he is not content with just opening up in the clubs homeland. He also has ventures planned in Miami and Beijing. Real Madrid have a big following in the States and in China so the theme parks would suit their legions of fans and have a real appeal.

With ‘brand Beckham’ a few years ago and now Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka signing for the club I can only imagine the goofy cartoon alternatives to Mickey Mouse that may be the mascots at the new theme parks!
